The Strength of Knowing Who You Are
The Weight of Feeling Not Enough
For a long time, I struggled with insecurity. I felt like I wasn’t strong, I wasn’t happy with my physique, I didn’t feel smart, or good enough. I kept comparing myself to other men—men who seemed more confident, successful, and in control. And the more I compared, the weaker and more insecure about my self I felt.
The world teaches men to hide their insecurities, to act tough, to pretend they’ve got it all together. But deep down, the majority of men walk around feeling lost, doubting themselves, and afraid to admit it. So instead they hide it away.
There are two ways to look at success. You can see a man who has everything—strength, confidence, success—and feel discouraged like you’ll never reach that level. Or, you can use it as motivation, knowing that if he got there, so can you.
That’s why Galatians 6:4-5 (NIV) speaks so strongly to me:
“Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, for each one should carry their own load.”
This verse reminds us that comparison is a trap. Instead of worrying about what others are doing, focus on your own growth, your own discipline, and your own purpose. Be proud of the work you put in and walk your path with confidence.
Where Insecurity Comes From
Insecurity doesn’t come from weakness. It comes from not knowing who you are. When you let the world define your worth, you’ll always feel like you’re falling short. But when you start seeing yourself the way God sees you—strong, capable, and built for a purpose—everything changes.
The Truth About Confidence
Real confidence isn’t about having all the answers or never feeling doubt. It’s about knowing who you belong to. When your identity is rooted in God, you stop needing approval from the world. You stop comparing. You stop feeling like you’re not enough because you already know your worth.
How to Kill Insecurity and Walk in Strength
- Stop Looking for Approval – The world will always make you feel like you’re lacking something. Stop seeking validation from people who don’t define your worth.
- Get in the Word Daily – When you fill your mind with truth, insecurity fades. God’s Word reminds you who you are and what you were made for.
- Surround Yourself with Strong Men – Insecurity grows in isolation. Find a brotherhood that lifts you, keeps you accountable, and reminds you of your strength.
- Take Action Anyway – Confidence isn’t about never feeling insecure. It’s about acting in faith even when you do.
Own Your Worth
If insecurity has been weighing you down, it’s time to stop carrying it alone. Your worth doesn’t come from how much money you make, how ripped you are, or how many people respect you—it comes from the One who made you.
Stand firm. Walk boldly. You were built for more.
